Who We Are
GlassLog is developed and operated by Third Party Services LLC, a Kentucky limited liability company. You can reach us at [email protected].
What This Policy Covers
This policy explains what information GlassLog collects when you use the app, how that information is used, and the choices you have. It applies to the GlassLog mobile application on Android and iOS.
Information We Collect
Voice Recordings and Transcriptions
GlassLog's core feature is recording voice journal entries. Audio files are recorded via your device microphone and stored locally on your device. Transcriptions of those recordings are generated and stored alongside the audio. We do not transmit your audio or transcription content to our servers unless you explicitly use a cloud-sync feature (not yet available). Your journal entries stay on your device.
Location Data (Optional)
GlassLog can optionally tag journal entries with your current location for context. Location access is requested only when you save a recording, not in the background. If you deny location permission, all app features remain available except the location tag on entries. Location data is stored only on your device within the entry record.
Mood and Sentiment Data
GlassLog analyzes transcription text using on-device keyword sentiment analysis to auto-tag entries with a mood (e.g., Positive, Reflective, Stressed). This analysis runs entirely on your device and is not transmitted to any server.
Device Crash Reports
Standard crash and performance data may be collected by the Expo/React Native runtime to help us diagnose and fix bugs. This does not include journal content.
How We Use Your Information
- To store and organize your voice journal entries locally on your device
- To generate transcriptions of your recordings for search and display
- To tag entries with location context (if permission granted)
- To auto-detect entry mood using on-device sentiment analysis
- To diagnose app crashes and improve stability
We do not sell your information. We do not use your journal content for advertising. We do not transmit your voice recordings, transcriptions, or location data to third-party analytics services.
Microphone Permission
GlassLog requests microphone access to record voice journal entries. This is the core function of the app. Microphone access is only active during an active recording session. You can revoke microphone permission at any time in your device settings, which will disable the recording feature.
Data Storage and Retention
All journal entries, audio files, transcriptions, and mood tags are stored locally on your device using the app's local storage system (AsyncStorage). We do not operate a cloud backup of your journal data in the current version. If you uninstall the app, all data is permanently deleted. We recommend exporting important entries before uninstalling.
Third-Party Services
GlassLog may use the following third-party services:
- Expo (EAS) — build and update delivery platform. See Expo Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics — aggregate app usage stats (crash reports only, no journal content). See Google Privacy Policy.
Future versions may optionally integrate OpenAI Whisper API for enhanced transcription. If implemented, this will be disclosed with a separate consent step before any audio is transmitted.
Children's Privacy
GlassLog is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used this app, contact us at [email protected].
Your Rights
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control: you can delete individual entries within the app, or uninstall to remove all data. If you use any optional cloud features in future versions, you may request deletion of server-side data by contacting [email protected].
Security
Journal data is stored using your device's local storage, protected by your device's own security model (lock screen, encryption if enabled). We do not transmit journal content over the network in the current version.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be noted in the app's update release notes. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
